air, flight, shuttle & ground transportation

There are two BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) subway stops—Orinda and Lafayette —that connect to the bus lines of the County Connection (a regional public transportation company), which service the area where SMC is located.

Take the Route 6 Lafayette / Moraga / Orinda bus from either Orinda or Lafayette. The bus makes regularly scheduled stops right in front of Saint Mary’s.

As noted above, we will also have a free campus shuttle van going back and forth from Lafayette BART to the campus throughout the convention.

Several private shuttle services are available from both San Francisco and Oakland International Airports. Please be sure to book your ground transportation prior to arriving at the airport. Listed below are several companies that provide this direct service. Prices may vary and round-trip arrangements may be more economical than two one-way passages.

Bayporter Express
(510) 864-4000
East Bay Shuttle
(925) 800-4500
Leisure Living Transportation
(925) 943-1512

If you plan to fly into the San Francisco Bay Area, you can fly into the Oakland International Airport (OAK), which is located approximately 40 minutes from the Moraga campus. There is BART train from the airport that goes to the Lafayette BART station, which is the closest to the college.

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is oftentimes more convenient to fly into from through some airline carriers. SFO is a little further from the campus in distance but is also directly accessible to the BART train, which will take you to Lafayette BART.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The BART train system goes from both San Francisco Airport and Oakland Airport. You want to make sure that you catch the PITTSBURG / BAY POINT TRAIN to eventually get to the LAFAYETTE STATION, which is the closest to Saint Mary’s College. While Oakland Airport is closer to the Saint Mary’s campus, it’s actually faster and easier (no transfers) to go from SAN FRANCISCO AIPORT to the LAFAYETTE station than it is from Oakland. But Oakland is better for those who will be renting cars.
